Prayers for Grace and Self-Compassion
Season 1 | Episode 44
Last week we spoke about God's grace and new beginnings, and I want to continue on the theme of grace. Today, I want to discuss about the grace that is tied into self-compassion.
Sometimes we may expect too much of ourself and put so much pressure on our life having to hit 100%. It's okay to have goals, but we have to also remember that it's okay to not be perfect and it's okay to ask for help. A goal is an idea or an opportunity, but it is not a requirement. We are God's works of progress and He has wonderfully made us in His image. We ask God to help us see our goals as opportunities this semester, and not as requirements. We ask to help us see that we are worthy even in our imperfections, that our worth does not come from checking things off, but it comes from yearning to get close to you.
When we feel down on ourselves, I ask that God would remove that pressure and add a sense of levity to the situation. and allow us to feel free and unburdened. We thank God for sending support, comforting words, affirmations, and positive outlooks. We thank God for continuing to be with us.
“Thank you God for the grace that you always show us because we are works in progress. We are not just walking checklists with boxes that need to be checked off. And we’re not either good or bad, achieving or failing, but we are continual works of progress. We are your works of progress. You have made us in your image and we are wonderfully made. ”
